-How to take good pictures: 1. Purchase the very best digital camera you can afford. The minimum to budget on this right now is $300 for the Canon S5 IS or a similar camera from Nikon. These ‘ prosumer’ cameras have a fixed lens-usually of less than acceptable quality. But it's the best you can do unless you want to step up to Nikon’ s or Canon’ s entry to the pro level for around $500-600. Be prepared in either level to spend $2-300 more on accessories. Go the prosumer route if you’re not ready to commit to high price equipment. Or dive into the high end and know that you’ll probably have the best camera on the block. |

. | ~2. Follow the light. Read The Ansel Adams Guide Basic Techniques of Photography Book 2, Chapter 2 The Zone System. Without the understanding given by the archbishop of photography, and his knolwedgy of how film responds to light, further attempts to improve one’s photography techniques will be hampered. Yes, this reference relates to film, but digital CMOS sensors respond in much the same way so the principles are stll applicable. | ~![]() |
